Patna: After the Muzaffarpur Balika Ghar Kendra in Bihar, another shameful case has emerged from the Buddha God's Town in Gaya district. Bhantye Sangpriya Sujoy, accused of physical and sexual exploitation of 15 Bal Lama of Assam in a Buddhist monastery located in Bodh Gaya, was sent to jail on Thursday in judicial hermitage. Gaya's Senior Superintendent Rajiv Mishra has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of Bodh Gaya Police Deputy Commissioner Raman Kumar Chaudhary to investigate the matter, which will be monitored by Superintendent of Police (City) Anil Kumar.




Superintendent of Police (City) Anil Kumar said that after being presented before the local court on Thursday, Bharte, a Bangladeshi citizen, was sent to the central jail for 14 days in judicial custody. He said that after the medical examination of the victim children, after recording their statement before the judicial magistrate, they were allowed to go home with their families.

Meanwhile, the International Buddhist Council (IBC) convened an emergency meeting in Bodh Gaya today for consideration of this matter, in which, in the name of religious education, passed a resolution condemning such abusive behavior with the children in which to bring the truth In all, the resolution was taken to cooperate with the investigating team.

The members of the council decided to monitor the activities of each monastery located in Bodh Gaya and said that people found involved in the crime should be deprived of IBC membership. Speaking to media persons after the meeting, IBC Secretary Pragya Bhante said that Bodh Gaya has more than 160 Buddhist monasteries, out of which only 55 are registered with the Council or with the Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC).

The IBC Secretary said that the district administration should take steps to ensure the registration of the remaining monasteries in order to ensure their registration. In the Prasanna Jayoti Buddhist School and Meditation Center in Mastipur village of  Bodh Gaya, for the last one year, the above children were being trained on Buddhism. This matter came to light on the complaint of the families of these children.
