Volkswagen introduced T-Roc during the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017. Based on the MQB platform is the T-Roc Foxwagen's Baby SUV. It has received good response from the international market. Now it seems that the company is preparing to bring it into the Indian market. According to reports, it can be lowered by the end of this year in the Indian market.

T-Roc will be offered as CBU (Completely Built Unit) in India, according to Carindbike's report. Foxwagen will import the SUV according to the Central Government's program. According to this program, a manufacturer gets permission to import 2,500 units every year without the need of homologation in the country.

T-Roc is a compact SUV with a Hyundai Creta size, sold in Europe's developed markets. It can be priced around 17-20 lakhs in India. In this case, it can be considered as a very expensive compact SUV, especially also because it is slightly smaller than Creta. In India, this car will hit Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. Compass costs Rs 15.45 lakh and Tucson starts at Rs 18.74 lakh.

India's most expensive compact SUV

In such a situation, T-Roc can be India's most expensive compact SUV. T-Roc will be the second VW SUV after Tiguan in India. Although it will be smaller than Tiguan and it will be placed inside Tiguan. The price of Tiguan starts at Rs 28.07 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

Through T-Roc, Volkswagen will compete in the compact and mid-side SUV segment in India. Where the company is not currently present. Compact SUV segments in India have cars like Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. There are cars like Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500 and Hyundai Tucson in the mid-size segment. Whereas compact SUV segment cars are around 9 lakh rupees, the top variant of the Mid Size Tucson SUV is up to 27 lakh rupees.

Even after Creta's rival in size, the price of T-Roc will be kept for the competition from Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. The reason for the T-Roc being so expensive is to import it from Europe to India. In order to justify the price in the mid-size segment, the company will launch the car in many features and powerful versions.

Foxwagen could take the version of T-Roc in UK to be used in India. A 1.5-liter TSI EVO engine with 7-speed automatic DSG transmission can be brought to India. In the UK-Speak T-Roc, the engine generates 150PS maximal power. Comparatively, Tucson comes with the 2.0-liter petrol version in India, which generates power of 155PS. Whereas Compass has a 1.4-liter MultiAir petrol engine, which generates a max power of 163PS.
