During a long chat with the Hollywood Reporter, Colin Trevorrow spoke freely about Jurassic World: Domination, now in theaters.
The director explained that Steven Spielberg did not visit the set in part due to the protocols related to Covid-19:
I would say yes, but then he was also very respectful in keeping the right distance from a director he produced. He has always been involved in the writing of the script and then in post-production when he saw the first edit. This time I didn't even get to see my family for four months.
As for the advice received from the director:
His advice seems obvious, but when you make the film and remember it, you realize that he has given you the key to everything. For this film specifically, it was: “Remember the characters, don't forget they're human. They are real people, scholars, parents who face something spectacular, something fantastic ”. Domination is not a superhero movie, but as much as you appreciate them here we are talking about a movie about our world with only one difference.
He then spoke of the absence of some characters such as Lex (Ariana Richards) and Tim (Joseph Mazzello):
Every single character takes so much oxygen that we had to be careful. I have always tried to avoid it becoming an episode of Love Boat, where you expect from one moment to the next someone who is about to make a special appearance.
Here we have five characters from Jurassic Park, BD Wong was in three of Jurassic Worlds and has a key role in this movie. If you think back to a movie like Jurassic Park, which had a total of eight characters, then where five are in this film, one realizes that the number is high.
Jurassic World - Domination with Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, and the stars of Jurassic Park arrived in Indian cinemas on June 10, 2022. Find all the information on the film directed by Colin Trevorrow in our profile.
