Two years ago, Marvel Studios announced "Avengers: The Kong Dynasty" during a Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. However, a lot has changed in these two years.
Jonathan Majors, who plays Kong, is set to play a pivotal role in the MCU's multiverse saga. But, in 2023, the controversies and allegations of negligent assault on Majors became a big problem for Marvel Studios. Marvel decided to drop Majors from all future projects.
Due to this development, Marvel began to restructure their future plans. "Avengers: The Kong Dynasty" to be released in 2026 is also a part of these changes. As part of the new plot development, the film was unofficially called "Avengers 5".
Kevin Feige wows the crowd during a Marvel Studios Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. He gave a clue as to what the new storyline would be by bringing directors Anthony and Joe Russo on stage. The Russo brothers, who directed big hits like "Avengers: Endgame," will now return for "Avengers 5" and "Avengers: Secret Wars."
Marvel has finally announced a new title… “Avengers: Doomsday”. Kong wasn't the big bad in this movie... now it's Dr. Doom. This news surprised the fans. Dr. Doom will be played by none other than Robert Downey Jr.
It's a big change in Marvel's future plans, but an exciting one. "Avengers: Doomsday" is slated to release in May 2026.
